I started photography almost 8 years ago, and I’m always looking for ideas for shoots. I have learnt not to rush into any shoot. I take time to let my ideas mature and blossom and when they are ready you can feel it. All you then need to do is plan and execute what you have in mind, sometimes this can take up to a year!!
One of my biggest passions is hiking and another is ballet. I just love what ballerina’s can do with there bodies. Their elegant style, their core strength, it is just amazing and they always make it look effortless…. However I don’t want to do ballet shoots on stage or in a studio I want to be outside, bringing something different to each shoot.
Which brings me to this shoot and these images. I had it in mind to do a shoot in Scotland around the Loch Long & Lomond area where I have hiked a lot. With the beauty of the Lochs and weather changing all the time and breath taking scenery, it was time to show the world my style of work. After finding the perfect ballerina Eve Mutso, former Principal Dancer with the Scottish Ballet Company, we had a few meetings then conducted our shoot. I could not have asked for a better ballerina and with us both connecting on a level we managed to create some great images.
With ballet shoots I don’t want to be normal with what I shoot, I want to keep pushing myself and breaking the boundaries, so this shoot was special and so far the response has been good.
